Picture
Kodja Mimar Sinan is not this profound architect's full name. Kodja (sometimes spelled Khoja) means "great" and mimar means "architect".  Translated to english, Mimar Sinan would be known as the Great Architect Sinan. At birth, Sinan was given the name Joseph (Yusuf in Turkish). His real full name is unknown, so he is generally called Mimar Sinan. He was a convert to Islam who served three Ottoman sultans, Suleiman I, Selim II, and Murad III. He was famous throughout the former ottoman empire, which includes Turkey and its neighboring countries, for his intellect, creativity, and character.
